About Me

I am a PhD researcher in Philosophy at UCD. Prior to this, I completed my BA and MA in Philosophy at Sapienza, University of Rome.

My research is mainly focused on early modern philosophy, with a focus on British thinkers. I am currently working on the moral and political philosophy of Catharine Macaulay, and her conception of power and responsibility. More specifically, I am investigating the role played by these concepts in her views of non-human animals, education and political power.

Alongside this, I am also interested in investigating the relation between the theoretical and practical philosophy of David Hume. My Master’s thesis was about Hume’s theory of personal identity, which I read as a connective notion between his epistemology and his moral psychology.

Other interests of mine include contemporary views of personal identity, especially narrative ones; relational theories of ethics, with a focus on the ethics of care; and early analytic philosophy, especially in regards to empiricism and ethical expressivism.
